Splendor. Excellence. Beauty. YOU!

Melissa “Mel” Daughtry is a freelance makeup artist based in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.  At 41, she never in her wildest dreams would have thought that she would be a business owner and do something that was more than just a job. Since her start almost seven years ago, Melissa has since become owner of Kabod Artistry. In 2018, she founded Hygienique, a cosmetic disposables distribution company located in the heart of Hampton Roads. She is also the recipient of the 2019 ACHI Magazine Educator of the Year Award for her knowledge and stellar ability to teach all things makeup as a beauty educator. She was named Executive Makeup Artist for the 2017 Virginia Full Figured Fashion Week Runway Show and was also a featured makeup artist for the Christian stage play The Missionary of OZ (loosely based on the play, The WIZ) (2016).

In 2021, the opportunity presented itself to allow Melissa’s work to be viewed by millions in the United States as her work has been worn by top women entrepreneurs who were featured on shows such as Good Morning America and Women Evolve with Sarah Jakes Roberts.

Melissa believes that there is splendor and beauty that dwells in every woman beyond what we see on the outward appearance. Her job is to only enhance God's beauty and majesty in women, not to recreate it.

Melissa is a wife of fourteen years, a mother of one, and a retired preschool teacher.

"You know how you feel when you finally made it home from a long, hard day. You kick off your shoes and kick back, feeling relaxed and calm? Well, makeup is just that to me. It's that feeling of finally being home." -Melissa
